School Counseling:
Christin Bohrofen (K-2 Counselor)
Emory Bergdoll (3-5 Counselor)

Thanks for visiting the MES counseling page!  As the school counselor I work with the students, teachers and parents to ensure that each child is reaching their full potential.

The elementary school years are a crucial time in the development of our student's character and self image.  Through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling I work with the students to achieve continuous growth and development of their character.  I am also continuously working with the teaching staff and parents to collaborate on student's needs.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at (513) 587-0008 or ebergdoll@madeiracityschools.org.

I look forward to working with you and your child as the year progresses!

Dear Madeira Elementary School Parents,

My name is Christin Bohrofen and I am the school counselor for Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade. As the school counselor, I will work directly with students and parents in helping them handle social, emotional, and/or academic concerns. My goal as the school counselor is to collaborate with teachers and parents to improve student’s individual, academic and developmental needs. The ways in which we achieve these goals are through school guidance curriculum which includes:

● Character education
● Goal setting and decision making
● Education on understanding self and others
● Peer relationships, coping strategies and effective social skills
● Dealing with loss and grief
● Multicultural/diversity education
● Transition support/adjustment to change
● Problem-solving and conflict resolution

The school guidance curriculum that I provide is delivered through classroom lessons to all students, small group counseling sessions (with parent permission) and individual meetings to help students adjust to school or help with personal issues on an as needed basis. My role also includes referrals for community resources like outside therapy or school based mental health therapy.

If you have any question regarding the counseling programs, please feel free to contact me directly at 513-985-6080 #4141 or cbohrofen@madeiracityschools.org.
I look forward to working together with you this year!

Sincerely,
Christin Bohrofen, M.Ed.
